  • As per sources, the cattle insurance scheme is likely to be formalised on the basis of Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY).
  • The outline of this scheme is anticipated to be released in the upcoming budget of this year, but it is yet to be declared separately.
  • Under the Cattle Insurance Scheme, the beneficiaries supposedly had to pay very less premium, just like PMFBY. Moreover, the state and central government can also subsidise this premium.
  • This scheme, if introduced, will prove to be very favourable for all the cattlemen in the country because they have suffered a lot because of the lumpy skin disease as well as other diseases as it has caused a lot of harm to their cattle. This scheme is likely to work in accordance with the proposal of 'Gau Sanrakshan'.
  • This scheme is predicted to include all the crossbreeds as well as the indigenous breeds of livestock. Even Yaks and Mithuns are also included in this scheme.
