India will have over 150 mn 5G users by 2024, 2G count falling: Report

 Business Standard -  India will have more than 150 million 5G subscribers by 2024 as the numbers jump in second half this year, telecom gear maker Nokia has projected. The country will also have a combined 4G and 5G subscriber base of 990 million by 2024, said Nokia in a report based on research conducted by OMDIA. Read more

  • Jio 5G is available in Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Varanasi, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Nathdwara, Pune, Gurugram, Noida, Ghaziabad, Faridabad and in all 33-district headquarters of Gujarat. 
  • Reliance Jio and Airtel are spreading their 5G connectivity across India at a rapid pace. Since the launch of 5G services on October 1, the telecom operators have expanded their 5G coverage in 50 Indian cities (till December 7th) and are reaching out to more cities almost everyday.
  • There are now more than 20 million 5G customers in the country, according to latest estimates since the service was launched. Reliance Jio, according to sources, is already looking at having 100 million 5G customers by the end of FY24. If it does that, the Nokia number could well be surpassed.
