  1. The National Cooperative Consumer's Federation of India (NCCF) is an apex body of consumer cooperatives in India. It was established on October 16, 1965, to promote the consumer cooperative movement in the country. 
  2. NCCF is registered under the Multi-State Co-operative Societies Act, 2002, and operates through a network of 24 branch offices located in different parts of the country. The organization's management is vested in the Board of Directors, and the ultimate authority of NCCF is in the hands of the General Body. 
  3. NCCF's main objective is to facilitate the voluntary formation and democratic functioning of consumer cooperatives in India.
  4. NCCF has several objectives, which include:
    • Providing supply support to consumer cooperatives and other distributing agencies for the distribution of consumer goods at reasonable and affordable rates.
    • Rendering technical guidance and assistance to consumer cooperatives.
    • Undertaking the purchase, sale, and supply of different consumer products.
    • Developing infrastructure and other construction activities.
    • Promoting the consumer cooperative movement in the country and facilitating the voluntary formation and democratic functioning of cooperatives based on self-reliance and mutual aid for overall economic betterment and financial autonomy.
  5. NCCF engages in bulk procurement of various consumer goods directly from manufacturers and wholesalers. This bulk purchasing allows for cost efficiencies and helps in maintaining stable prices.
  6. The federation operates a network of cooperative retail outlets where consumers can purchase a range of consumer goods. These outlets are spread across different regions to cater to the needs of local communities.
  7. NCCF is involved in maintaining quality standards for the consumer goods it distributes. Ensuring the quality of products is crucial for building trust among consumers and meeting regulatory requirements.
  8. NCCF often receives support from the government in terms of policies and initiatives to enhance its effectiveness in meeting consumer needs. Government support may include financial assistance and regulatory frameworks.
