How much money would Bajaj's CNG bike save?

Bajaj Auto has introduced the Freedom 125, the world’s first motorcycle to run on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG). This 125 cc commuter bike operates on both petrol and CNG, aiming to significantly lower operational costs for it’s users. It is Priced between ₹95,000 and ₹1.10 lakh (ex-showroom).

 

The Freedom 125 is designed for cost-conscious consumers which is expected to lead to a 50 percent reduction in fuel expenses compared to other petrol bikes.

 

It is equipped with a small petrol tank and a CNG cylinder and The CNG cylinder is positioned under the petrol tank. The petrol tank holds 2 liters, while the CNG tank has a capacity of 2 kg.

 

The company says that the bike can cover up to 213 km on CNG alone, with an additional 117 km provided by the petrol tank, totaling a range of 330 km. The fuel efficiency is rated at 102 km/kg for CNG and 64 km/l for petrol.

 

It is powered by a 125 cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine with fuel injection and delivers 9.4 bhp and 9.7 Nm of torque. The bike features telescopic front forks and a rear monoshock, with braking handled by a front disc and a rear drum brake. It rides on 17-inch alloy wheels.

 

The initial rollout will be in Gujarat and Maharashtra, with plans to export to markets including Egypt, Tanzania, Peru, Indonesia, and Bangladesh.
