Is Russia losing Ukraine war?

10 Jul 2024 Zinkpot 208
It has been more than 2 years since the Russia Ukraine war started. In these two years Russia has been very aggressive and has controlled a significant part of Ukraine in the East and South East.

But now things have started to change. The European nations and the USA have increased military and financial assistance to Ukraine and Ukraine is fighting back aggressively. As a result, an average of 1,000 Russian troops a day were killed or wounded in Ukraine in May 2024 Is the highest reported since the start of the war. Russia's total number of killed or wounded since it launched the invasion in February 2022 now stood at around 500,000.

Moreover, The US has provided approximately $53.6 billion in security assistance to Ukraine since the beginning of the war. Since the war began, the U.S. Congress has voted through five bills that have provided Ukraine with ongoing aid, doing so most recently in April 2024 and the total figure is about is $175 billion so far.

However, US officials have said that Russia has been able to replenish its troop numbers, recruiting around 25,000 to 30,000 soldiers a month, while Ukraine is struggling to find new recruits. Russia is also offering lucrative contracts to new recruits, to hire them and to replace its losses. Russia’s one of the factors of their success is aerial superiority undisputed since the war began in 2022. However Western powers agreed to supply several dozen F-16 fighter jets to counter Russia.

But so far, the Russians don’t seem to have enough forces – at least 150,000 servicemen are needed but they lack it. As of now the result is undecided but looking at the support Ukraine is getting, Russia will have a tough time in Ukraine.
