Birsa Munda, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the PM JanJaatiya Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM-JANMAN) in the Khunti district of Jharkhand.
It is an initiative with a budget of Rs.24000 crore aimed at ensuring the holistic development of tribal groups.
Under this scheme, the government aims to reach out to primitive tribes many of whom still live in forests. The Prime Minister pointed out that 75 of such particularly vulnerable tribal groups (PVTGs) and primitive tribes, totaling lakhs of people across more than 22,000 villages have been identified.
This scheme lays emphasis on a shift from just connecting numbers to connecting lives. This scheme is likely to have influence in Madhya Pradesh as well.
Officials said that under this mission, basic facilities such as road and telecom connectivity, electricity, safe housing, clean drinking water and sanitation, improved access to education, health and nutrition, and sustainable livelihood opportunities will be provided to PVTG habitations which are mostly remote, scattered, and inaccessible.
Moreover, on the occasion of Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas, the prime minister also launched a Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra to ensure saturation of all the flagship government schemes in the tribal area.
