05 Dec 2023 Zinkpot 178
  1. SCORES, which stands for "SEBI Complaints Redress System," is an online platform introduced by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI). SEBI is the regulatory body for securities and commodities markets in India.
  2. SCORES is designed to provide a platform for investors to lodge complaints against listed companies, intermediaries, and market entities related to securities market activities.
  3. Key features of SCORES:
    • Online Complaint Filing: Investors can file complaints against entities registered with SEBI online through the SCORES platform. This includes issues related to non-receipt of shares after a public issue, non-receipt of dividends, etc.
    • Efficient Redressal: The platform aims to provide a quick and efficient mechanism for the redressal of investor grievances. SEBI oversees the resolution process and ensures that the complaints are addressed promptly.
    • Transparency: SCORES enhances transparency by providing a centralized database for complaints, resolutions, and actions taken. Investors can track the status of their complaints online.
    • Communication: Investors can communicate with SEBI through SCORES regarding their complaints, and the platform facilitates seamless communication between investors and the concerned entities.
    • Escalation: In cases where the resolution provided by the concerned entity is not satisfactory, investors can escalate the matter through SCORES for further review and action by SEBI.
  4. Investors who wish to file complaints or seek resolution for issues related to securities markets in India are encouraged to use the SCORES platform. It reflects SEBI's commitment to investor protection and the fair and efficient functioning of the securities market.
  5. SEBI issued a circular on September 20, 2023, regarding the redressal of investor grievances through the SCORES platform and linking it to the Online Dispute Resolution platform. The platform is an important tool for bolstering investor protection and ensuring the redressal of investor grievances in the Indian securities market.
  6. SEBI announced the extension of the timeline of linking of SEBI Complaint Redressal (SCORES) platform with the online dispute resolution platform. Earlier, the deadline was on December 4 and the market regulator has now pushed it to April 1, 2024.
